In Buenos Aires, two individuals, one of them a hospital nurse, were detained accused of robbing the apartment of a patient who was hospitalized with dementia. The case began after a 911 call from a neighbor of the victim. Upon arrival, police officers found the suspects with a suitcase and, during questioning, they could not justify their presence in the house or possession of the keys. The prosecutor, Carlos Caputto, ordered the detention of the occupants—a 36-year-old woman who works as a nurse at the hospital, and the man accompanying her, a 40-year-old—charging them with the crime of unlawful entry. Caputto also ordered a series of investigative measures, including witness statements, review of security cameras, seizure of the suitcase, and photographic documentation of the apartment's condition and the documents in their possession. The hospital was asked for a report on whether they had sent staff to the residence. Finally, a police guard was posted at both the intruded apartment and the room where the victim is hospitalized. The judge, María Carolina De Paoli, ordered the preventive detention of both suspects.
